WWJK “JACK JACKpot” Official Contest Rules

Backyard Broadcasting Mississippi LLC (Backyard) doing business as 94.7 JACK FM is participating in a contest called “JACK Jackpot.” Backyard will be placing calls at random to numbers listed in the Greater Jackson Area phone book and to random numbers obtained through “JACK Club” memberships at 947jackfm.com. Jackson area residents wanting to increase their chances of winning can join the JACK Club absolutely free at 947jackfm.com. The contest awards prize money to Jackson, Mississippi area residents who know the current money amount in the jackpot in the event and at the time they are called. Backyard has determined that all calls for the “JACK JACKpot” contest will be placed Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 6pm and during contest execution, the decision of Backyard judges is final. The number of calls and the actual time the calls are made may vary. The number of weekly calls made to “JACK Club” members may also vary. Backyard reserves the right to discontinue the “JACK JACKpot” contest or modify the rules at any time.

Backyard will begin execution of the “JACKpot” contest after 8am on Thursday, January 4, 2007 after the prize amount is mentioned on the air. The prize amount begins at one-thousand dollars. If a contestant responds with the proper dollar amount, they will win the prize amount in full. If they answer incorrectly, one hundred dollars will be added to the prize amount and the new jackpot total will be updated on air. Those who prefer not to be contacted can call our business office at (601) 956-0102 between the hours of 8am and 5pm, excluding weekends and holidays.

All calls placed will be terminated after six rings and the call will not be considered as made. The same pertains to a number that has been disconnected and is no longer in service. For more money to be added to the jackpot, either an answering service or person has to be reached. Backyard will continue calling numbers until a machine or person picks up. In the event a “changed number” recording is reached, Backyard will attempt to call the changed number provided that the new number is in the Jackson, MS metro area. The current total in the “JACK Jackpot” is announced on-air each hour throughout the duration of the contest by Backyard employees. Only the first person who answers the phone will be allowed to play. The only exception to this pertains to JACK Club members only.  If a business number is provided, an attempt will be made to contact the club member.  If while calling a business we hear "hello" instead of proper identification of said business, the person answering the phone will be considered the contestant.  Contestants will be asked “What is the amount in the JACK Jackpot?” The correct response is the most recent broadcast “total” of the “JACK Jackpot” and only the first answer will be accepted. Those who are reached and agree to play have 30-seconds to respond with an answer. If an automatic answering machine or voice-mail service answers and contains a correct response in the message, the Backyard employee placing the call will leave a message instructing the contestant to call our business office between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday thru Friday to claim their prize. Backyard will also consider the jackpot amount as being won and the jackpot total will return to one-thousand dollars.

In the event that more than one person is served by the answering machine or voice-mail service, the prize shall be awarded to whomever the phone number is billed to. In the event the answering machine or voice-mail belongs to a commercial enterprise, the prize shall be awarded to the management of that enterprise for distribution as they see fit. Backyard is not responsible for any technical difficulties with telephone systems, either internal or external during the contest. In the event the problems are internal, Backyard will suspend the contest until the problems are rectified.

Contestants must be 18 years of age or older to win, and the prize money will be awarded to whomever answers the phone with the proper dollar amount in the jackpot (unless phone is answered by a minor, then an adult will be asked for), regardless of their exact residence, place of business and/or phone number. All calls will be recorded and Backyard reserves the right to broadcast the listener response, regardless of whether they win or lose. All winners are also required to have their picture taken for the JACK FM website while claiming their prize. Backyard is not responsible for any taxes on prize winnings. Winners must also claim their prize within’ ten business days of the prize being awarded or the prize is forfeited. Cash prizes are to be claimed at the Radio People Studios, 365 Highpoint Drive in Ridgeland, Mississippi, and winners must present two forms of legal identification. Contestants for the “JACK JACKpot” contest may only win once per year and the cash prize is limited to one winner per household.

Employees of Backyard Broadcasting Mississippi LLC and their families are not eligible for this contest. This contest also excludes employees from Jackson, MS area media outlets and their families.
